My Weekly Poem.

WALT read a poem and analyse the language features of a poem. This will help us think poetically so that we can write a similar poem to share with others.

I'm leaving school,

I feel like a fool,
It soon will be the end,
Goodbye my lovely friend,
Sorry that this time has come,
I also want to scream and run,
Someday I will see you sometime,
And when we meet I am sure we will be fine,
Please don’t cry or I will too,
And remember I’ll always love you.

1. Summarise the poem you have read in your own words.
  • The poem I read this week is about the author leaving to a new school and she wrote down how she feel about her friend when, she leave.

2. Identify at least 2 different language features in the poem and give examples. You can identify more than 2 language features.

One of the language features in this poem is a rhyme. Here is an example of this language feature I'm leaving school,
I feel like a fool,
Another language feature in this poem is a emotional .Here is an example of this language feature Please don’t cry or I will too,
And remember I’ll always love you.
3. Evaluate (which means reflect and give your opinion) the author’s purpose for writing this poem - in your answers include the words: inform, entertain, persuade.

  • By analysing the poem I have read this week I think the author wrote this poem because she will miss her friend when she leave.
  • The author was informing the audience about her feelings
  • The author was entertaining the audience by expressing her feelings.
  • The author is trying to persuade the audience to believe the things she said, cause it’s true.
